Competions and Programs

Competitions are the first Monday of every month, programs are the third Monday of every month.
December and January are dark
March 2026
Competition - Kathy Newman
Program March 16 - Krisztina Scheeff, Landscapes, Animalscapes, and beyond
Often, especially for beginner nature photographers, the goal is to capture wildlife and make the subject big and fill the frame. This strategy encourages wildlife photographers to create striking and detailed images of the subject. However, when there are multiple full frame images that are all great, what can we do to stand out? In this talk we will explore how to think more broadly and include the natural environment alongside your subject. Instead of focusing solely on the animal itself, broaden your view to include the environment, the landscape, creating a mood to better tell your story.
This presentation will take you on a journey around the world with photos of wildlife, landscapes and how to combine them for animalscapes.
April 2026
Competition - Susan Coppock
Program April 20 - Jeff Parker, Backyard Bird Photography
I will cover attracting birds, making photography setups and finally photographing backyard birds. The backyard bird photography program is heavily weighted towards attracting birds and doing setups to photograph them. I do touch on some settings and concepts of getting the shot but it's about 20% of the program.
